Summary: The Les Paul Studio launched in 1983 as an affordable no-frills take on the classic Les Paul design. Like other Les Paul guitars, the Studio uses two humbuckers and a combination of a carved Maple top on a Mahogany body (though some early models use alder). Unlike other Les Paul guitars, the Studio lacks any sort of binding on the fingerboard or body. The Les Paul Studio used an Ebony fingerboard up until 1994 when it switched to Rosewood. This awesome Gibson still has the ebony fingerboard with pearloid block inlays and it looks & sounds great.

Body: This Gibson has a carved 3 piece maple top with a translucent wine red finish, black pickguard and mahogany body.

Neck: The mahogany neck has a great 60s profile that is extremely comfortable. The ebony fretboard has a nice rich dark color, no binding, trapezoid pearloid inlays, gold Gibson tuners, 22 frets, 1.675” nut width and 24.75” scale length.

Pickups/Hardware: 2 Gibson humbuckers, 4 black speed knobs, 2 volume, 2 tone, 3 way toggle, Nashville style tune-o-matic bridge, stop bar tailpiece and gold hardware.

Cosmetics: This Gibson is in great shape & it doesn’t show a lot of wear. The back looks great with only a few scratches. There are normal signs of wear like pick scratches on the pickguard and on the top but I don’t find any major dings or dents. There are no cracks or visible repairs. Overall this instrument looks like it was not played a ton & well cared for. The frets are in great shape with tons of life left.

Playability: Our in house luthier has just set up and restrung this LP with a new set of 10s. The action is low, the frets feel great, the neck is straight and the resonance from this guitar is phenomenal!
