Description

This is an all original finish 1947 Gibson LG-2 beautiful tobacco burst with an old vintage (one diamond on the pocket, Maybe Geib?) arched case with leather banana handle. Spruce top, and mahogany back and sides – it is bound on the front and back. and It has one long ago repaired crack on the back, and the action measures 3 x 3 at the 12th fret. This is a 74 year old guitar in great condition but of course there are myriad finish spiders, chips, scratches and dings, etc. The “C” shaped neck is 1-3/4″ at the nut and the thickness at the 1st fret is .920″. It has a rich tone and sustain across the spectrum with quite the emphasis on the mids and high notes. I really believe that the mass of the thicker neck adds much to the sound of this one. Rosewood fingerboard and bridge, working truss rod, x-braced, and original bridge-plate. There is .135″ of saddle left to the original bridge. It does not need a neck set and plays beautifully. The neck is thicker but not a huge neck. The tuners are good working repros (Stew-mac) but the original riveted Klusons are in the case pocket and could be put back on with no headstock alterations and two new-old turning buttons.

A real nice Post War Gibson…
