This 1968 Gibson Melody Maker Bass looks beautiful in sparkling burgundy.

The bass has seen some work, despite the fact that it looks amazingly clean.

The original frets are in excellent condition, and the Brazilian rosewood fretboard is dark and luscious.

The pots, bridge and tuners are all original, as is the bridge cover.

Changes include: the pickup, which sits a little lower than an original one but still causes a little contact with the strings if you play on the highest frets - a known issue with all Melody Maker basses.  There is an added coil tap switch.  In one position there is no output.  Someone unfortunately routed the body to fit the switch.  The pickguard is not original.  There are no new pickguard screw holes in the body.  The knobs are not original.

It is unfortunate that someone futzed with such a clean example, but that is the way it goes.  Now you get a player and a good price!

Original chipboard case included.
