DESCRIPTION
Up for sale is an incredibly cool and rare 1950s Gibson Royaltone Version 2 Lap Steel in a unique and very TV Yellow like finish. From the research done this is a fairly rare model and was only offered in this color combination for a few years with total production numbers between 75-100 units. Aside from the out of this world TV finish, this instrument features a single P90 pickup, white knobs also seen on the mid-1950s Salmon Pink Century lap steel. When we received this instrument the tuners were toast and were replaced with a modern direct drop-in repro set. Now, this example does have two anomalies. First, the logo is a Gibson script logo and any other example we’ve seen has a 1950s era Gibson block logo. Second, there is no serial. This would generally lead us to believe this instrument has been refinished however the solder joints are not broken and there is no evidence otherwise the finish has been messed with. Very cool and rare instrument. Comes complete with its original hardshell case (broken handle).
