1964 Gibson SG Junior Cherry

Great SG Junior here! Clean, but with just the right amount of player mojo.

Frets and fingerboard in great shape!

Tuners replaced with Kluson repros, but originals come with the guitar.

Comes with later 90's era Gibson SG case.

The P-90 pickup growls as you would expect!

Here's the specs;

6 lbs. 4 oz.

 Solid mahogany, very lightweight and resonant.

 Mahogany with a rosewood fretboard, slim and fast-playing profile (often a narrow nut width —  1 9/16"

: Standard Gibson 24.75" scale.

: One P-90 single-coil pickup in the bridge position (the heart of the Junior’s raw, aggressive tone).

 In late 1965, SG Juniors often had the large "batwing" style pickguard introduced that year, covering much more of the guitar face compared to the earlier smaller pickguards.

 Silkscreened "Gibson" logo with no inlay (Junior models didn’t have the mother-of-pearl inlay).

: White button Kluson Deluxe tuners.

 Typically cherry red (which can fade to a brownish hue over time), but there were also rarer custom color options.

 Single volume and tone knob, simple and direct.

1965 Specific Notes:

 mid-to-late '65, Gibson shifted to the narrow nut and the large batwing guard.

: Strengthened neck joints — earlier SGs had notoriously weak neck-to-body joints, and Gibson was making some improvements by this period.

Nickel hardware transitioning to chrome by the mid-to-late '60s.:

It's one of the last SG Juniors made before major late-60s changes (like heavy headstocks and bulkier bodies).

The P-90 in these is known for its raw, aggressive voice — perfect for rock, punk, and blues.

The simple design makes them lighter and more resonant than many other Gibsons.
