Here we have my current shop favorite -an all-original 1963 SG Les Paul.

The guitar sports the sideways vibrola, which I've found to be incredibly underrated. This is the first guitar I have had with this tremolo in years, and I've spent the last few weeks getting familiar with it, Complaints about the tremolo are that it reduces sustain or inhibits the tone of the guitar. Maybe it is just this particular SG< but I find both of these issues to be non existent. The guitar rings, vibrates and sustains like any other, and the tone is outrageously good.

This SG came to me with a very small, hairline crack next to the neck heel (see the pictures). It was very professionally repaired without any alterations to the guitar - no overspray or collateral damage to the neck or neck heel. It sat clamped for the better part of a week after being glued by our local luthier, and I've played the guitar many times since to make sure that the work is a permanent fix. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.

So many of these SGs, and later models as well, suffer neck heel issues. Causes include reliance on the original case to fully protect the instrument. The way the case is built, should it be dropped/tipped over or inappropriately shipped, stress applies directly tot he neck joint. The simple way to avoid this is to either source a modern case for daily use, or to additionally cushion the guitar in the case with support behind the body.

As I mentioned, this example is all original, every screw. It seems as though it wasn't played heavily, the frets are in excellent shape, the color is strong and surface wear is far less than average. The truss rod is fully functional for future neck adjustments, but as it sits the action is low - perfect really! You'll love playing this guitar as much as I do.

The original case is included and it also is in excellent condition.
