Description

Summary: This Gibson has a lot of natural wear from years of gigging and when you pick it up it is easy to understand why this was somebody’s number 1 guitar. The original Tim Shaw humbuckers sound incredible in this guitar and the neck has a nice worn in feel with frets that have plenty of life left in them. Our guitar tech has just set it up and restrung it with a new set of 10s and it is ready for many more years of gigging and cherishing.

Body: Solid mahogany body double cutaway with cherry finish.

Neck: Mahogany neck with bound rosewood fretboard, MOP block inlays, jumbo frets, 1 5/8” nut width and 24 ¾” scale length.

Pickups/Hardware: 2 original Tim Shaw designed Humbuckers, 2 volumes, 2 tones, black knobs, tune-o-matic bridge, nickel plated hardware, Gibson tuners, 3 way toggle, Dimarzio pots and orange drop capacitors.

Cosmetics: This SG has many dings, dents, and some of the finish has worn off around the edges of the body and neck. There are visible holes where other tuners were installed at one time. This SG has some hazy finish in spots and some corrosion on the hardware. There are some scratches or cracks in the finish in the upper cutaway that could be mistaken for neck/body joint crack but there is no evidence of the crack in the pickup rout, therefore we have determined it to be a strictly superficial blemish and not a structural one. Overall, this guitar has all the wear and looks of a well-played instrument, gigged hard and clearly rocked out on for many years. Despite the wear, there are no breaks, cracks or visible repairs, no headstock break and no structural concerns.

Playability: Our in house luthier has just inspected, set up and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s and it is playing beautifully with low action and a straight neck. The frets have a fair amount of wear but they still play really well considering their height.

Modifications: Changed pots to high quality Dimarzio pots, orange drop caps, changed nut, tuner holes from previously mounted machines and strap lock style strap buttons installed.

Weight: 7 lbs, 8 oz.

Case: This Gibson ships in a brown Gibson case with pink interior and we will ship it professionally packed and fully insured! The case has a big hole in the back of it but the damage is not visible on the inside of the case & the case still works for transporting the guitar.
