NO FON: Postwar, script logo Southern Jumbo with all the features of a banner logo wartime Gibson without the banner. This one is remarkable for its volume and nuance and, as a player, is perhaps the best one I've had in quite some time. This is a well played but well cared for one owner guitar sourced locally. Mahogany back and sides are crack free with a moderate about of checking and scratches. There's a single pattern of concentrated playwear south of the pickguard and a few dings and scratches on the top. otherwise, the finish is very fresh and bright and the patina is quite handsome. Conforming to the specs of the SJ of the period, it has a multi-ply binding and rosette, parallelograms for fretboard position markers and belly-down bridge. The medium-sized neck has a working truss rod, script logo and a mixed bag or original tuners -- flat back Klusons and the identical tuner slightly beveled. It's had a neck reset and the angle is perfect. Mark Tossman cut a new saddle to bring the action up a bit and perfected the setup. Outstanding work. The frets may be newer but they've been finished off to look like the old Gibson frets. There's plenty of bite left. The case? Well, check out the pictures. I'm crazy to be selling that case. Or the guitar for that matter. Just terrific.
