Description

Gil Yaron is well known for building some of the most incredibly accurate replicas of classic Fender and Gibson designs, including some of the most coveted 50's era Les Paul copies available. Legal issues forced the discontinuation of these highly sought-after replica builds.

Offered here is one of the last Yaron LP replicas built, a lightly played, pre-loved Yaron '59 LP Replica which was delivered to the original owner in 2012. This instrument offers most every option that Gil Yaron makes available on his LP Replicas, including, but not limited to: old-growth Mahogany for the body and neck; reclaimed flamed Maple for the top; pre-CITES era Brazilian Rosewood for the fingerboard with Celluloid Nitrate inlays; Gil's own PAF-perfect humbucking pickups with NOS 50's wiring harness and paper-in-oil caps; nylon nut; period-correct hardware and plastics, etc. The guitar is as it came from Gil, except that the original top-hat knobs were switched out for a set of very high quality vintage replacements. The originals provided by Gil are included in the case. This guitar is finished in a washed cherry burst nitrocellulose finish. It has a total weight of just 8.2 pounds (8 pounds, 3 ounces )by my scale and it is so very nicely balanced! The neck depth measures .90" at the first fret, increasing to .98" at the twelfth fret with very little shoulder as you would find on a real vintage '59 LP.

It took Gil years to accumulate the knowledge, skills and the vintage tools necessary to replicate a 59 LP to such exacting detail. I've been lucky enough to handle and play a few vintage Gibson Les Paul guitars over the years and few instruments come so close to reproducing the vibe, feel and tone of the originals like a Yaron reproduction - it's just incredible what Gil can do. Gil gave this one moderate aging and a superb patina so it looks and feels like the real deal. The tone and playability are to die for. As indicated in the brief sound sample provded, the tone is pure vintage LP, fat and woody with no muddiness in it's voice.

This amazing guitar is in the same condition as it was when delivered to the original owner and the frets show no visible evidence of wear. It ships in a Gator TSA LP case which Gil prefers for their light shipping weight and the incredible protection they provide his work.

This one of the last of these replica models built by Gil who is now building just his own incredible designs, so get this lightly played example while you can. If you lust for a real vintage LP, but lack the $300K or so that such guitars are now commanding, here is perhaps the next best thing. This is one incredible instrument from the master, Gil Yaron.
