Description

Offered for your consideration is this marvelous little 14-fret Parlor-sized guitar built by James Goodall in his California shop in 2016.

The CP-14 has a body that is 39-3/4" long, 4-1/8" deep and 14" wide at the lower bout. The top is made of one of the cleanest sets of "Master Grade" Italian Spruce that I have ever come across. The back and sides are made of beautiful red Cocobolo Rosewood. It has a 14-fret Mahogany neck with a lovely satin finish, an oval C-shape and depth measurements of .82" at the first fret, increasing to .92" at the ninth fret. It has a 25" string scale, an Ebony fretboard, 1-3/4" bone nut and 2-5/16" string spacing at the bone saddle. The binding and backstrip are figured Maple. The headstock has a Cocobolo overlay with Maple binding. The rosette, fingerboard and headstock inlays are made of green Abalone. A clear pickguard was installed at the time of manufacture.

What an exquisite little guitar this is! It is drop dead gorgeous and if you like clean, flawless white Spruce tops, this guitar has one that is hard to beat. The guitar is nicely setup with string heights of 6/64" and 4/64" and flatpicked or fingerstyle, it plays with ease and great tone. Please check out the brief sound sample I have provided. This guitar packs a sonic punch that belies it's relatively small size. It sounds more like an OM or grand concert in volume, but with better articulation of the mids and lots of overtones. The shorter scale makes it quite responsive to your playing style. This is easily one of the nicest parlor-size guitars I've ever come across, regardless of price!

The original owner paid $7,500 for this guitar and seemingly never got around to playing it. It is as close to mint as a "used" guitar can get. I can't find a flaw of any significance to point out. The frets look flawless. It comes in it's original Ameritage Gold case, also in near mint condition.
