Description

No doubt about it, James Goodall and his son Luke are making some of the finest acoustic guitars anywhere these days. While they offer several lines of instruments, their Traditional series guitars are my favorites. Offered here is a near mint 2015 Goodall Traditional OM cutaway which was completed on March 18, 2015.

This fabulous acoustic was built with a AAA grade Adirondack Spruce top with an optional cutaway. The back and sides are AAA grade East Indian Rosewood. It's classically understated cosmetics include: herringbone trim for the rosette and purflings; chevron pattern marquetry backstrip; white Maple binding on the body, fretboard and headstock; Boxwood bridge pins; and mother-of-pearl inlays on the fretboard and headstock. The fretboard, bridge headstock overlay and tuner knobs are black Ebony. As you would expect, this is a 25.5" string scale guitar with 14-frets free of the body. It has a 1-3/4" bone nut and a bone saddle with 2-1/4" string spacing. A marvelous LR Baggs Lyric pickup with discrete sound hole mounted volume control has been professionally installed for amplified performances.

This is much more than a classically beautiful instrument. It plays with such ease that it seems to make me play better! I've set it up with Elixir phosphor bronze light gauge strings with 12th fret string heights of 6/64" on the low side and 5/64" on the high side. The tone is HUGE; just check out the SoundCloud sample I recorded. This guitar has a loud, rich, clear voice with nice overtones and notes hang on for days!

This one-owner guitar is in near mint condition with only the slightest evidence of prior play. A few scuffs on the pickguard and a few light shirt button scuffs on the back are all you will find. The frets are like new. It comes in it's similarly clean Ameritage premium case with humidification.

This lovely acoustic retailed for $8,300 and sold for $7,800 in 2015, but you can save $2K on this lightly played example. Make this beauty yours and I can pretty much guarantee you will LOVE it, as I do!
