Description

This is an exceptionally fine example of the Gretsch Country Club from 1954. Beautiful Blonde finish, and gold hardware, with original tweed case. Tuners, pickups and entire guitar have been professionally cleaned. Strung with Thomasitic-Infield flatwounds, and sounds great. This was purchased from a collector, who had it in a collection for 30 years. Shows very little signs of use, this one is exceptionally clean condition. Hump block neck inlays with original frets in great shape with the binding nubs still present on the edges. The classic 4 ply body binding is in perfect shape, with no shrinkage or deterioration. The six-ply neck binding is in equally fine condition. The back exhibits a few scratches, which are light and not into the wood.

The gold bridge pickup cover shows some discoloration and wear to the gold finish. This is from “off-gassing”..a chemical reaction from the plastic used on the old pickup surround rings or pickguard on these guitars. It is difficult to find examples of Gretsch's that do not have this affliction to the hardware from this era. The bridge pickup height adjustment ring has been replaced with a modern replacement due to the original ring deteriorating. This is a great example, perfect for playing or for a collection. Price listed is for bank wire transfer.
