Description

Looking for a great boutique quality Strat-style guitar? If so, you should check out the work of Don Grosh offered here; a sweet "NOS Retro" built in 2017. Don builds a series of F-style guitars as well as a few of his own designs and he builds them right, in very small quantities.

This splendid guitar has an Alder body with an Olympic White finish with no aging and a total weight of 7 pounds, 9 ounces. It has a satin finished Maple neck with a nice medium C neck carve and depth measurements of .83" at the first fret transitioning to .93" at the twelfth fret. It has a nice Rosewood fretboard with 10" radius, medium frets and a 1-5/8" nut. It has a Gotoh 510 trem bridge and locking Kluson vintage style tuners. The electronics include three of Don's 60's Fat single coils with master volume, master tone, blend controls and a five-way toggle.

This instrument competes head-on with instruments from the Fender Custom Shop in both price and quality. However, with Don's guitars you get 'Masterbuilt' quality at 'Team Built' prices. This beauty plays and sounds like a high-end Strat-style guitar should. Please check out the attached sound sample; this guitar's voice is clear and "quacky" indeed!

Built in 2017, this guitar remains in near mint condition. The only flaws of any significance that I can find are a few tiny tool marks around the truss rod adjustment point (see photo). Otherwise this guitar is like new, frets included. It comes in it's original premium G&G case with the engraved brown end caps, the trem arm and certificate of authenticity.

If you have been seeking a very high quality Strat-style instrument at a reasonable price, this may be the guitar for you. Great Strat!
