Serial # 79704. The solid body M-75 was introduced in the early 1970’s in response to Gibson’s Les Paul, and featured a similar design, complete with humbucking pickups and solid Mahogany body. By the time this example was built in 1973 Guild had added a phase switch and master volume control to the wiring.
This example is being offered AS-IS, thanks to its high action. We’ve not done any set-up or clean-up to the guitar and is presented here as-found. The guitar is completely original, including pickups, wire harness, tuners, frets, and hardware. The bridge is at its lowest and the action measures 6-7 64ths at the 12th fret. A reset or fingerboard shim will be needed to get the action lowered. The instrument is otherwise original but for one replacement Grover tuner of the same era and footprint. Electronics work well, with some scratchiness in the pots that is easy to clean up. Original finish in intact, worn in areas, and sticker letters have been affixed to the treble side at the waist.
Solid Mahogany body, set-in mahogany neck with bound Indian rosewood fingerboard. Nickel hardware and gold Grover Rotomatic tuners.
If you’re not scared of high action, or are looking for a worthwhile project, this M-75 is a solid option.
With original hardshell case
