Description

Summary: This is a super rare & very unique vintage Guild Pilot bass guitar. This wonderful bass plays really great – the action is low & the fingerboard feels great. I have searched and searched to try and find another Pilot with this finish but I haven’t seen it anywhere. The headstock is also matching!

Body: Solid body offset electric bass guitar with a wild & unique finish.

Neck: Maple neck with a beautiful thick rosewood fingerboard, dot inlays, original black tuning keys (missing the back plate on one of the tuners but it is still working great), 22 frets.

Pickups/Hardware: Jackson P & J bass pickups, 2 volume knobs, 1 tone knob, black hardware. These pickups are likely a special order from guild when the bass was built.

Cosmetics: This old bass guitar shows normal wear & tear for an instrument from the 1980’s – there are several dings on the body, some light pick scratching on the top, some light signs of buckle rash on the back of the bass. This bass has lots of wear around the edges of the instrument but structurally it is very sound and it feels rock solid.

Playability: We put a new set of light gauge bass strings on this baby and made sure the truss-rod is fully working. The action is low & the bass plays great up & down the fingerboard. The frets are in good shape & the rosewood on the neck is fabulous.

Modifications: One of the round backing pieces is missing on one tuning key. The “Jackson” pickups may be replacements, however, the Guild factory was known for using a variety of different parts & pickups at the time and for making instruments to spec for customers. A strap button was added on the back of the upper horn.

Weight: 8 lbs, 10 oz.

Case: This Pilot bass ships in the original Guild Pilot bass hard shell case
