Hagstrom's HIII really came out of nowhere. Their guitars had always been cool, but this one is MEAN. This thing plays great and sounds nasty, but in the best possible sense of the word. It was modded with a TOM for better intonation up the neck and got a fresh fret-dress very recently. Electronics work well. Each pickup has an on/off switch, plus a couple of switches for some tone caps. At one point it has a bunch of stickers all over it and the finish shows signs of it. You could probably buff it back to a shine if you have a buffing wheel or strong forearms, but it really does look OK as-is. No trem arm. These will always be under-rated but at least they are appreciated by those in the know.
