Description

Summary: This is a rare but awesome Hagstrom H-8 eight string bass guitar with the original case. The Hagstrom H-8 was the first 8-string bass guitar & it was only originally manufactured for a short period in the late 1960’s. According to Hagstrom historians there were only about 2249 of these basses made in the 1960’s.

Body: Solidbody double-cutaway mahogany body

Neck: Fully bound neck – the binding has been replaced recently by our in-house luthier. As you can see the binding is totally new - it is very white but we think this is a great job on the binding & the neck feels awesome. This instrument has a scale length of 30.75” and a nut width of 1 5/8” with dot position markers.

Pickups/Hardware: Two Hagstrom single coil pickups with one volume knob & 4 selector switches. The electronics have all been cleaned & this baby is working & sounding great. This instrument has the original Van Ghent tuning keys.

Cosmetics: When we bought this bass guitar it looked pretty rough – the binding had been stripped – the electronics needed work – it was missing some saddles……we had our expert luthier take on this project and give this old Hag a new life and that is exactly what he did…..Now this bass has beautiful new binding on the neck – the electronics are fully functioning & the bass sounds and plays great. This bass does have the normal wear & tear associated with an instrument from the late 1960’s – dings, nicks, scratches, fret wear – but overall this baby came back together pretty well.

Playability: This bass plays great – the neck is straight & the action is low.

Mods / Repairs: This instrument has replaced binding. This bass was also missing some saddles when we bought it so we had to craft our own saddles for this bass guitar treble strings.

Weight: 7 lbs, 7 oz.

Case: Original gray Hagstrom case with yellow padded interior.
