Description

Offered is this great 1229 built by Chihoe Hahn in 2010. The 1229 is an all Mahogany guitar, with a body that is .25" thinner than a typical Telecaster. It's Mahogany construction gives the 1229 a slightly warmer, richer tone with a bit less bite than most Tele-style guitars.

The specs for this lovely electric include: a soft V-shaped Mahogany neck which measures .90" deep at the 1st fret increasing only slightly to .94" at the 12th; a gorgeous slab Rosewood fretboard with a 7.25" to 9.5" compound radius; 6105 frets and a 1.650" bone nut; Budz single coils wound for vintage output; CTS pots with vintage cloth wire; three-way switching; vintage-style Gotoh/Kluson tuners; and a Fender bridge plate with Hahn compensated brass saddles. It has a total weight of just 7.0 pounds.

This guitar is a superb player. It feels familiar like a Tele, but the Mahogany gives it a slightly different feel and vibe. The fingerboard's compound radius makes for easy chords near the nut and flattens out for great string-bending action as you move up the neck. It is incredibly resonate and notes ring for days! The tone is sweet with just a little more warmth than your typical Tele-style guitar. Please check out the provided Soundcloud sample.

Being such a superb player and sounding as good as it does, this guitar shows a bit of play wear. The outer edges of the body are little rough in spots and the thin nitro finish is worn a bit here and there. These minor cosmetic issues aside, this guitar looks good and remains in superb playing condition. The neck is flawless and the frets show little wear. It comes in a very nice brown thermometer style case.

I've always been fond of the Hahn 1229 model and have had several in stock over the years. The last two were purchased by Steely Dan guitarist and co-founder Walter Becker, who apparently collects them. I wouldn't be surprised if Night Bob called to reserve this one for Walter too. A very cool Tele-style instrument - make it yours!
