Description

It's still chilly here in the Northeast and sitting by the fire and playing guitar is still the thing to do. The perfect instrument to cozy up with in such a situation would be this gorgeous little 0-SP parlor guitar by Huss & Dalton. The 0-SP is a short scale, 12-fret, parlor-sized instrument. Play this guitar for just a few minutes and you won't want to give it up.

The specs for this instrument include: a body that is 13-1/2" wide, 18-7/8" long and 4-1/8deep; an Engleman Spruce top with light Adirondack Spruce bracing; back and sides made from lovely, straight-grained Indian Rosewood; a 12-fret Mahogany neck with H&D's Low Profile shape; a 24.9" string scale; an Ebony fretboard with a 1.75" bone nut; an Ebony pyramid-style bridge with a bone saddle and 2-5/16" string spacing; a slotted headstock with Rosewood overlay; and side-mounted Waverly tuners with ivoroid buttons.

The 0-SP's small body, light weight (3.2 lbs.) and short string scale make for a guitar that is extremely comfortable to play. The slightly elongated body shape and 12-fret geometry also give this guitar more power and responsiveness than you would expect from such a diminutive instrument. The soft V-shaped low profile neck is a joy for smaller hands and measures .82" deep at the first fret. It is impeccably setup for ease of play with with 12th fret string heights of 5.5/64" on the low E side and 4/64" on the high E side.

This is an exceptionally intimate instrument to play and it willingly responds with a voice that is often characterized as well balanced, sweet and warm, but it also offers more headroom than such a small instrument should possess. Listen to the brief sound sample I have provided and I think you will concur.

While built in 2012, this guitar appears to have been completed only recently. I cannot find any flaws of any significance and the frets remain spotless. It comes in it's similarly mint Huss & Dalton/TKL case.

A new example of this guitar runs for $4,400 but this near new 2012 example can be had for quite a bit less. Make this guitar yours and she will quickly become your favorite couch body. A fabulous little parlor guitar indeed!
