Description

Offered here is a Huss & Dalton Traditional OM with some relatively unique features. This is a guitar for players who want an OM with a narrower-than-typical nut width, a low profile neck shape and a short scale length.

This TOM-R Custom has a Sitka Spruce top with herringbone trim and ivoroid binding. The back and sides have been upgraded to fabulous Brazilian Rosewood. The Mahogany neck has been custom-ordered with a fast, low oval neck shape with depth measurements of .84" at the 1st fret and .93" at the 9th fret. Unlike your typical OM, this guitar has a 24.9" string scale. It has a an Ebony fretboard with Abalone inlays and a 1-11/16" bone nut. The Ebony belly bridge has a bone saddle with 2-1/4" string spacing, a bit wider than you would normally find in combination with the 1-11/16" nut width. The tuners are classic nickel Waverlys. A K&K Pure Mini end-pin pickup has been installed to facilitate amplified performances.

The narrower nut width on this guitar will be immediately familiar to electric guitar players, while the 2-1/4" string spacing leaves plenty of room for finger-style players. The playability is superb, with 9th fret string heights of 6/64" and 4/64" on the low E and high E sides, respectively.

Huss & Dalton guitars are known for a clear and airy tone and this beauty does not disappoint. The note separation is exceptional. Whether you use a flat pick or your fingers, this guitar is quite responsive with lots of sustain. Overall, the tone is classic OM with a touch of additional top end shimmer. Very nice indeed!

This one owner instrument is in excellent condition. Under intense lighting and observed from the right angle, you will find some very light shirt button scuffs on the back of the guitar, but that is it for flaws. The frets are in excellent shape, with no divots and years of life left in them. The guitar comes in it's original H&D tweed-look case, also in excellent plus condition.

When purchased new in 2009 this guitar cost the original owner $6.3K. Purchased today, a Brazilian Rosewood example like this one would likely cost at least $8.5K. Get this well-preserved 2009 example for thousands of dollars less. A fabulous high-end OM with unique features that is sure to please.
