Description

Summary: The Kay Swingmaster was a semi-hollow body with a single rounded cutaway offered with either two or three pickups. The K673 was the three pickup model moniker. This particular guitar looks like it has had a Bigsby Tremolo added and it is missing any logos, but has a cool “World Wide Cycle Club” sticker on the headstock. All 3 pickups work with volume & tone controls for each pickup & a 4-way selector switch giving you the option to use individual pickups or all at once.

Body: Semi-hollow body with a single cutaway, one f-hole. The top on this guitar has a really cool black & cream binding, the back is also bound with cream binding.

Neck: Fully bound neck with a rosewood fingerboard, block pearloid inlays, 19 frets, 3-bolt neck connection, vintage Grover open back tuning keys. The nut width is 1 5/8” and the scale length is 26”. This is a great feeling chunky neck with a “V” profile.

Pickups/Hardware: 3 “Kleenex Box” pickups, 3 volume knobs, 3 tone knobs, 4 way selector switch, chrome hardware, Bigsby Tremolo, vintage open back Grover tuning machines, pearl block inlays.

Cosmetics: This vintage guitar has a ton of charm & charisma. This instrument shows lots of normal wear such as nicks & dings, scratches on the top & the back, discolor on the pickguard, wear around the edges of the headstock – all wear is consistent with a well-played but loved vintage guitar from the 1960’s. There is also some wear near the posts of the tuning machines but they all still work great.

Playability: We put a new set of 10’s on this old hollowbody and it plays pretty good. The action isn’t too bad & it could be better if you replaced the metal bridge that is currently on the guitar. It plays up & down the fingerboard with no dead spots.

Modifications: We believe this instrument didn’t have a Bigsby when it was new, however, there are a lot of models on this old Swingmaster guitar & it could be original but we don’t think so. The headstock logo is missing and has a “World Wide Cycle Club” sticker placed there instead.

Weight: 7 lbs, 7 oz.
