~1965 Kent Vegas 530 Sunburst

Summary: This Guyatone made Kent guitar has tons of character from the heavily checked finish on the body to the crisp clarity of the single coil pickups. The vibrato arm operates very smooth and stays in tune remarkable well. It has just been set up and restrung by our in house guitar tech and is playing beautifully with low action and a straight neck.

Body: Solid body with sunburst finish, the finish has a lot of weather checking which adds to its vintage look. Topped off with an aluminum pickguard.

Neck: One piece neck with a nice chunky profile, bound rosewood fingerboard with 20 frets, block inlays, dot inlays at 12th fret, red tinted sunburst finish on neck, 1 11/16” nut width and 25” scale length.

Pickups/Hardware: 2 single coil pickups with on off switches for each, 2 volumes, 1 tone, plastic floating bridge and vibrato unit. It has the original open back tuners with white buttons. The tone knob operates in the opposite direction we normally expect it to work.

Cosmetics: This Kent is in great shape for a guitar from the 60s. The finish on the body has a lot of weather checking, there are some minor dings around the instrument but nothing that stands out or raises any structural concerns. There are some chips on the headstock that have been touched up with some color.

Playability: This guitar plays great with low action and stays in tune very well even when dive bombing the whammy bar. The neck is straight, the frets have a little wear but still have plenty of life in them.
