Kramer DMZ 3000

Summary: The Kramer DMZ 3000 is probably best known for its aluminum/maple neck design and forked headstock. Designed in 1979 and equipped with DiMarzio single coil pickups, this guitar is a unique metal/wood beauty full of sustain and character.

Body: The DMZ has a maple double cutaway body with black finish and a 5 ply b/w/b/w/b pickguard.

Neck: The Kramer DMZ 3000 has an aluminum neck with two inlayed maple strips. This was supposed to mitigate the cold sensation of other aluminum neck designs on the market. The neck is a bolt on design with an oval neck plate and 2 bolts. It also has a zero fret, aluminum nut, ebanol fretboard with 22 frets, 1 5/8” nut width and 25” scale length.

Pickups/Hardware: The pickups are 3 single coil Dimarzios, 1 volume, 2 tone, 5 way selector switch, really solid bridge with 6 individual saddles, black knobs and Schaller tuning machines.

Cosmetics: There is a very small amount of fret wear and the frets have plenty of height and life left in them. This guitar has been gigged and played a lot so there is some buckle rash on the back and plenty of pick scratches on the pickguard and top. There is also a chunk taken out of the back of the neck in one of the maple inlays about 3/8 of an inch wide, some of the black paint on the back of the neck is worn off a bit where the metal meets the wood, 2 dings on the body exposing the wood underneath, a 2” long scratch behind the output jack and a crease in the finish along the center seam. All these blemishes are purely cosmetic and do not affect the playability of this awesome instrument!

Playability: This guitar plays really well. The fretboard is flatter than most, making for easy bends and chording. Our in house luthier has set this lovely guitar up with low action and strung it up with a new set of 10’s.

Weight: 10 lbs, 3 oz.

Case: This beastly guitar ships in its original hardshell case.
