Description

2012 (new old stock) 00-15M from the inventory of the now closed Vintage Fret Shop of Ashland, NH...Lovely little finger picker that recalls the great all mahogany Martins of the 30s-50s. Small body mahogany top instruments have always been great, but have gained renewed attention thanks to the popularity of the use of vintage examples by Kenneth Pattengale of the Milk Carton Kids and a few others. This one, while new, carries the torch of the older instruments into the future well. Solid mahogany back and sides, rosewood fret board and bridge. The 24.9" scale combined with 1 11/16" nut width make for a very comfortable neck. The guitar has warmth in the bass and a nice woody edge to the midrange and treble that make it well suited to ragtime and country blues finger style play. The action is set up so that it is comfortable for this style but also suitable for light strumming/pick style play. Plenty of saddle showing to lower the set up if desired. The guitar has a small top ding (see pics) from handling in the shop and also one visible, though less deep, surface abrasion on the back. Comes with a mew Martin 300 series hard case.
