1968 Martin D-35

This guitar was purchased new in August of 1968, in Pennsylvania. The original bill of sale is included, as are the original hang tag/warranty. It does not appear to have ever had a neck set, and there is a lot of room on the saddle should you wish to lower the action, but this D-35 has been very popular at the shop this month, and no one has complained about the action being too high. A good friend and local luthier brought this to me, at the behest of the original owner. Sometime in 1991 it went back to Martin and several/some frets were replaced by Martin- the work order/shipping order are also included. Apparently at this time the guard was replaced with a slightly oversized guard. I would expect to see black, but the tortoise shell guard looks like older Martin material. The original guard possibly shrunk, as they are very prone to do, so maybe a pickguard crack, or curled up, and/or there was a lot of playing wear between the bridge and guard, as I have seen a lot being in the middle of Bluegrass country in NC so the new bridge was expanded in one area to cover that. Other than that the guitar is pretty clean, with some players wear on the top, but with no signs of damage or repair anywhere. And of course, the ever fabulous Brazilian Rosewood. The case with the guitar is the original case that came with the guitar, a black vinyl hard case in nice shape with a lighter brown lining, and does not look a Martin case I would expect to see from that era, but that is the case that goes with the guitar.
