Description

1870s Martin 2 1/2 Style 17 in excellent condition with a gentle amount of wear throughout this exceptionally punchy sounding nylon string 19th century Martin. This guitar is in stellar shape in all original condition with only a couple previously repaired top cracks, one near the treble edge of the fingerboard and on the center below the bridge. Otherwise this guitar has no history of major repairs.

Features the very cool and idiosyncratic "ice cream cone" neck heel. This model is often called the "Mark Twain Model" as Twain owned one in his day. Offered in sizes 2 ½ and 3, the style 17 was introduced in 1856 with spruce top and rosewood back and sides. This style 17 is fan braced. Some notable features are the solid bent lining inside the guitar as well as the superb quality tone on this instrument. Excellent for finger picking especially in classical style or even in folk style fingerpicking.

Constructed with a spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides, maple neck, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and original Waverly tuners. Features a scale length of 24 1/2", string spacing at the bridge of 2 5/16", fingerboard width at the nut of 1 3/4", thickness at the first fret of 0.82", thickness at the tenth fret of 0.85", and weighs 2.46 lbs exactly. This guitar comes with a non-original hardshell case.
