Back in 2014, the Martin Custom Shop built a small batch of 0-sized VS guitars for Guitar Center. These guitars were viewed as a very good value back in 2014, but represent an even better value today with the ever-increasing price of tone woods and guitars in general. Offered is a mint example of one of the guitars from this limited run.
The 0-12 VS MMV is a parlor-sized 12-fret guitar. This sweet little piece has a body that is 19" long, 9-7/16" wide at the upper bout, 13-1/2" wide at the lower bout and 4-1/16" deep at the tail block. No shortcuts were taken with the specs of this guitar. The top is made of Sitka Spruce and is braced with non-scalloped Style 1 Sitka braces. The back and sides are made of East Indian Rosewood. It has a Style 28 rosette and the body is fully bound in white Boltaron. It has a 12-fret quarter-sawn Mahogany neck with Modified Low Oval shape. The Black Ebony fretboard has a "16 radius, Style 28 pearl dot inlays, G300 fret wire and a 1-11/16" Corian nut. It has a slotted headstock with a Rosewood overlay and gold Grover tuners. The bridge is Black Ebony belly-style with a compensated Tusq saddle with 2-1/8" spacing. The full spec sheet is pictured with further details.
I loved this guitar immediately. In fact, I have another in-bound at the time of this writing. It is small enough to be super-comfortable to play, yet big enough to have a voice with presence. There is no mistaking this for anything but a Martin - warm, woody and succinct. Please check out the brief 'Soundcloud' example provided below. This example has seen little to no play as yet, but I suspect it will age well and open up nicely in the years to come. It plays superbly tool, with 12th fret string heights of 6/64" and 4/64" at low and high E sides, respectively.
This guitar comes to you in mint condition with no flaws and virtually no sign of play. It comes in it's original Geib-style Martin/TKL archtop case, also in mint condition.
Back in 2014 these sold for $2,199 I believe. Today a guitar with these specs would cost you far more, no question. Get this virtually flawless example for the same price. If you want a small Martin guitar, I cannot imagine a better buy. This would also make a great instrument for the younger/student player in your family! A lovely little Martin guitar.
