Description

Offered for sale here is a Martin model you don't see all that often, a 0000 12-fret built in the Custom Shop in 2016. This one owner instrument was very nicely spec'd out as the following will indicate.

This is a Grand Auditorium-sized instrument, with a 25.4" string scale and 12 frets free of the body. It has a lovely silky Sitka Spruce top with aging toner and 5/16" M-12 bracing. The three piece, Style 35 back and the sides are made of straight-grained East Indian Rosewood. The body and neck are bound in white ivoroid. It has a Style 28 rosette. The quarter sawn Mahogany neck has a low profile shape and a fully adjustable truss rod. It has a black Ebony fretboard with a 1.75" bone nut and Style 38 MOP dots. It has an Ebony belly bridge with a bone saddle and 2-1/4" spacing. The tuners are gold Grover open backs. The full specs are detailed in the photos.

The 12-fret geometry of this guitar gives a big sounding instrument even more presence. It has a huge, well-balanced voice with lots of mid and bass response without the loss of high end clarity. Please check out the brief sound sample provided for a short taste of what this beauty can do. While certainly not a small guitar, it's relatively thin (4-1/8") body depth makes it far easier to play than a dread. This guitar plays superbly and is setup with fingerpickers in mind with 12th fret string heights of 6/64" and 4/64" on the low and high E sides, respectively.

This guitar is in near mint condition, with only the lightest evidence of prior play. The frets remain in marvelous condition too. It comes in it's original Geib style case which is also in near mint condition.

A new example of this model from the Martin Custom Shop would cost you around $5K. Get this near mint 2016 beauty for $2K less. A very nice Martin 12-fret and a LOT of guitar for the money. Make it yours!
