Description

In case you hadn't noticed, 00-size, 12-fret instruments are among our favorite acoustics here at Capital Guitars. It is a design that has been around since the late 1940's as played by the likes of Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan. It is a design that combines an intimate body size that is extremely comfortable to play and with 12-fret geometry which gives it a relatively powerful voice.

Offered here is an exceptional and modern interpretation of this ageless Martin classic. This short scale (24.9") beauty utilizes full hide glue construction. It has an Adirondack Spruce top which has been sanded to .105" and matched up with Golden Era-style 1/4" scalloped bracing. The back and sides are made from a gorgeous set of Madagascar Rosewood. The body binding is flamed Koa and the purfling is Golden Era-style fine herringbone. The 12-fret, low profile-shaped neck is made of Spanish Cedar. The Black Ebony fretboard has a 16" radius with a 1.75" bone nut and 2-5/16" string spacing at the bridge. The tuners are gold Waverly's with Black Ebony buttons.

This guitar is extremely responsive and nearly effortless to play with 12th fret string heights of 6/64" on the low E side and 4/64" on the high E side. The tone is absolutely dreamy to my old ears with lots of note to note clarity and midrange punch for such a small, lovely instrument. While meant for fingerstyle, you can really dig-in with a flat pick if you like and a thin, peel-off vinyl pickguard has been installed to protect the guitar's finish around the sound hole.

This guitar is in virtually flawless condition, has seen little play and could easily pass for new, frets included. It comes with it's similarly mint Martin Custom Shop case and satin case shroud. A new example of this guitar costs over $9K, but this near mint example can be had for thousands less. As classic acoustic guitar designs go, this beautiful little Martin is hard to beat!
