2013 Martin Custom Shop M-42 Excellent, Original Hard, $6,995.00

Yet another fabulous one-off piece from Martin's Custom Shop. Also known as "M" or "0000", this guitar is one of only four that were specially built for us using woods personally selected by me. The back and sides are stunning Madagascar rosewood and the top is of extra-select Alpine spruce. All dimensions are as in the original M-size guitar that I built for David Bromberg in 1967, which Martin used as a model when they eventually came out with their production M-38 in 1979. Full 16"-wide body, 25.4" scale, 1-11/16"" nut width, 2-1/8" string spacing at the bridge. It has got a slightly lower profile neck contour for an extra-fast feel. Otherwise, complete Style-42 appointments overall with abalone trim around the edge of the top and fingerboard end and with full Style-45 abalone "Snowflake" fingerboard inlays. Same kind of huge, magnificent tone as found on the "M-21 Steve Earle Artist Signature" model that Steve and I co-designed a few years back, though with stunning best-grade Madagascar rosewood back and sides for extra clarity and overall pizzazz. Has the clearest range imaginable from top to bottom. Back to us in pristine condition from its original purchaser and unduplicatable today, for any price.
