Description

Offered for sale is a superb and quite unique instrument from the Martin Custom Shop, a slope shouldered, 00-sized, 14 fret, short-scale beauty. I'm told that this guitar is one of just three that were built for the 2014 Summer NAMM show in Nashville.

This is a 14-fret 00-sized instrument with sloped shoulders, a 24.9" string scale and 2-5/16" string spacing. It has an Adirondack Spruce top with scalloped Adirondack bracing. The back and sides are made of Australian Blackwood, a species that is a distant cousin of Hawaiian Koa and has tone characteristics somewhere between Rosewood and Mahogany. It has grained ivoroid binding, multi-color rope purfling and a Paua pearl rosette. The satin-finished neck has Martin's Modified V shape. It has an Ebony fretboard with a 16" radius, a 1-3/4" bone nut and Foden-style Paua inlays. It has an Ebony pyramid bridge with a drop-in bone saddle that is compensated.

This is one beautiful instrument and it plays even better than it looks! It's short scale and modest body size make it really comfortable to play. The tone is surprisingly big and open for such a small instrument. It's voice is balanced and warm with sparkling highs and very strong mids. Listen to the short sound sample provided. It is a lightly built instrument that is super-responsive and highly resonant. Strummer or fingerpicker, this guitar will quickly become one of your favorite guitars!

This beauty has seen little play and is in near new condition. I find no flaws of any significance and the frets are near flawless. It comes in it's original Geib-style Martin case with the shroud and spec sheet.

I would venture to say that to commission a similar guitar new would cost you more than $5K. Get this marvelous and near mint 2014 example for substantially less. A real sweetheart of a small body Martin. Make it yours today!
