1971 Martin D-12-20 #277998
But for the recently replaced pick guard this D-12-20 is factory original. Mahogany back and sides, Sitka spruce top, Brazilian rosewood fret board and bridge. It has just the finest and tightest repaired top crack under the high E strings (pick guard crack) but no other cracks in the top, back, sides or neck. The finish is in good shape showing fine crazing on the top and light play wear, with a handful of light dings and scrapes around the body but nothing beyond the superficial. The neck is straight under tension (no relief or bow) and the top is flat, the bridge secure to the top. All interior bracing is secure and original, nothing needed. The frets and fret board are in excellent condition, no wear to speak of. The action is on the high side, measuring 9/64" and 8/64" with 5/64" of saddle showing. The guitar can be played with reasonable comfort in the first position but the action becomes more difficult to manage upon moving away from the first position. The neck will need to be reset to improve the playability, as there is little saddle left to drop the action. The asking price reflects the need for the reset, allowing for the buyer to do the reset after purchase of the guitar without being over invested in the instrument. Comes with the original 'blue' hard shell case...the case lid has no warp/distortion and closes well, all latches/hinges and handle present and functioning, the lid to the accessory box inside is gone. Interior case lining in very good condition. $1500
