I’ve been working with, repairing and restoring, and selling both new and old Martin guitars for over fifty years, and the occasional Martin from the early 1970s, especially Grade-18 ones, can be some of their best, strongest-sounding, cleanest-toned, sturdiest guitars ever. This is one of the very nicest I’ve seen in many years. It came to me from the family of its original owner, has been beautifully cared for, and has just been thoroughly gone over in our own workshop. It is in 100% original condition with no major work of any kind ever needed. Clean original lacquer finish with virtually no playing wear; original genuine ivory nut and saddle; original American-made Grover Rotomatic tuning machines (more recent Grovers are foreign copies); original frets, with almost no wear; original Martin pickguard (!); no cracks anywhere save for the traditional teeny one at the edge of the pickguard, perfectly and invisibly taken care of decades ago, possibly by us. We’ve just made whatever minor adjustments were called to bring it back to a perfect action with a standard set of .012 gauge strings, proper for all Martins of this kind. You could not ask for a lovelier, more wonderful, friendlier, forty-five year old Martin D-18 than this one. Still has its original Martin hard shell case, also in perfect condition. A truly great vintage Martin for the same price as a new one. $2495 w/ohsc
