This D-18 just returned to us from Jeff Hoppe at South Sound Guitars in the Tacoma, WA area. This is the second guitar I've sent to Jeff, and he's nailed it again, turning this piece from a nearly unplayable looker to a booming killer!

The neck has been re set. A new bridge was crafted as the original had been shaved to try to bring the action down. The original is in the original case.

Jeff masterfully carved a bone saddle. Take a look at the bridge closeup pic - the compensation on the saddle is amazing. The action is now dialed in and the guitar plays wonderfully.

The refret wasn't absolutely necessary, but I went ahead and had Jeff tackle that as well and he did a great job applying period correct frets that really made the whole investment in restoration come together.

The pickguard is changed and there are a few crack repairs, including an old side reinforcement, visible in our interior pics. The pickguard was changed when I purchased the guitar.

As you might expect, the guitar is a cannon, but with balance and brilliance. It has woken up a good deal since it came back from restoration. In your hands, this beauty will continue to open up with regular play, as old Martins do.

You're going to absolutely love this guitar!
