Description

This was a real bluegrass PLAYER's guitar. Played for decades, it got retopped by Martin in 1980. The Brazilian Rosewood back and sides are drop dead gorgeous. Perfectly bookmatched with amazing reddish and spiderweb graining. When it got sent back to Martin for the re-top it looks like they poly finished over the back and sides as it's very smooth and glossy now. Headstock front and back looks like original finish but back of neck is glossy like the back and sides. Has plenty of saddle, string height at 12th fret is 1/8" on low E and 3/32" on high E side. Well within bluegrass parameters.

Top has small cleated 1/4" crack at top of soundhole treble side.

Has 70's era blue/grey Martin hardshell case.

This guitar is essentially an HD28 now with 60 year old Brazilian Rosewood back and sides.

Also has Barcus Berry saddle transducer pickup installed.
