Description

Summary: Introduced as part of the new 35-series in 1965, the D-35 was similar to the D-28 in its use of Rosewood for its back and sides. Key differences between the two dreadnoughts include cosmetic styling and binding details, as well as the use of a three-piece back on the D-35. Like other Martins, a major point of differentiation for the D-35 came in 1969 when Martin began the transition from Brazilian to Indian Rosewood. This Martin D-35 dates to 1975 & the guitar is in good condition with normal wear consistent with a guitar from the mid-1970’s. This instrument also comes in the original coveted Martin Blue case…..

Body: Dreadnought body size with a solid spruce top and rosewood back & sides.

Neck: Mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard and an ebony bridge. This guitar has 20 frets & the frets show some wear but they have plenty of life left in them. This guitar has the original Grover tuning keys & it features dot inlays with a fully bound neck. The scale length is 25 3/8” and the nut width is 1 11/16”.

Pickups/Hardware: No electronics, chrome Grover tuning keys. The top, back & neck on this guitar are fully bound. This vintage Martin also has the classic D-35 3-piece rosewood back.

Cosmetics: There is an extra hole on the top side of this guitar where someone had put an extra strap button at some time in the past. This guitar does have normal nicks & dings that are consistent with a vintage instrument from the 1970’s and it also has some cool vintage checking throughout the guitar. This instrument appears to have had a bridge reset sometime in the past but it seems very solid now & the bridge reset was done very well.

Playability: This Martin plays great – the action is comfortable and the instrument plays without buzzing or dead spots – this guitar has a booming sound and you can feel it in your belly when you are playing – this is a loud guitar!

Weight: 4 lbs, 12 oz.

Case: Original blue Martin hardshell case.
