Summary: The Martin 0-15 was an all-mahogany instrument with modest styling. It was made mainly between 1940 and 1961, although a few may have been made in the 1930s. Its humble appearance means it has been largely overlooked by collectors. The Martin 0-15 has Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, bridge and headstock veneer. The all mahogany body means that the tone is also restrained not too much bass or treble. This particular Martin dates to 1959 and it sounds and plays great.

Body: Concert sized acoustic with mahogany top, back & sides. The upper bout is 10.25” wide and the lower bout is 13.5” wide. The body joins the neck at the 14th fret.

Neck: Mahogany neck with dot inlays, 19 frets. The scale length is 24.875” and the nut width is 1.725”.

Pickups/Hardware: Chrome hardware, original open back vintage tuning keys with white plastic buttons, black nut, Brazilian rosewood bridge, Brazilian rosewood headstock veneer, tortoiseshell pickguard, 2-stripe rosette, dot inlays.

Cosmetics: This baby shows lots of wear that is consistent with a guitar from the late 1950’s. There are various nicks and dings & scratches all over this beautiful instrument that add charm & character to this classic guitar. There are some cracks that we have cleated and this instrument is structurally sound & ready to be played and loved.

Playability: This little Martin plays great! The action is comfortable & the instrument plays up & down the fingerboard without buzzing or dead spots. The frets do show some wear, particularly on the 1st – 6th fret, but they still have some life left in them.

Modifications: When we got this baby there were several cracks on the instrument that we have cleated and secured – the bridge looks like it may have been re-glued at one time in the past – it is possible that someday in the future a new owner would opt for a neck reset but we don’t think it is necessary at this time. I also found a small rectangle (1 inch X ½ inch) on the side of the lower bout of this instrument where a hole was patched and repaired in the past – it doesn’t show up very well in photos but you can see it easily if you hold the guitar in your hands.

Weight: 3 lbs, 4 oz.

Case: No case but we will ship it in a chipboard case or a gig bag & make sure it is well-packed and fully insured.
