Description

Offered here is a lovely, and unfortunately, out-of-production Martin for your consideration, an OM-21 Special that was completed in 2011 and remains in fabulous condition.

The OM-21 Special is a 000-14 sized instrument with a 25.4" string scale. It differed from the Standard OM-21 of the time with it's Low Profile neck made of Spanish Cedar, a 1-3/4" nut width, it's slightly wider 2-5/16" string spacing, Rosewood bindings and a lovely Pyramid style Ebony bridge. It is made of nicely silked Sitka Spruce combined with high grade Indian Rosewood. It is a simply decorated, but very elegant instrument. The detailed specs are included among the photos herein.

I immediately loved the look, feel and vintage vibe of this guitar. I'm not sure if it is the Cedar neck, the bracing, or what, but this guitar just sounds better than the Standard OM-21's I've played. The slim Low Profile neck feels great and the guitar is set up perfectly with 12th fret string heights of 6/64" on the low E side and 4/64" on the high E side with just a touch of neck relief. It plays and sounds wonderful. Please check out the brief sound sample included. Hopefully my mediocre play will not prevent you from hearing the wonderful voice that this guitar has to offer.

If this instrument has any flaws worthy of mention other than some very light play marks on the pickguard, I cannot find them. It has been meticulously maintained and many could mistake it for a new instrument. The frets are spotless. It comes in it's original Geib-style TKL case, also in near mint condition.

This lovely Special has the potential to become your favorite guitar; one you will want to keep close at hand. This is one of those very "special" Martins and one that you will not have to take out a second mortgage to finance. Make it yours today!
