I dig Mosrite guitars and always wonder why they aren't more popular. This is a good thing for fans of Moseley's work, however, because the guitars are a really great deal.
I think the thing that turns some people off is the low frets, and many examples I've found are really hard to play due to the wear that makes the already low frets tough to play.
This Celebrity came in with absolutely hammered frets, even the zero fret, so I sent it off to Jeff at South Sound Guitar Repair. He did a great job on the fret replacement, as always. The wire is vintage appropriate, but it is a little taller than the original material, so the guitar now has a more familiar feel than the typical Mosrite. The guitar is now a pleasure to play. With the new frets, our guy Tim as able to get a really nice setup going as well.
The tuners are changed to 70s side-screw Schallers a long time ago. That is the only other change to the guitar, though the original pickguard is also missing. My friend Rick at Guitar Maniacs in Tacoma, WA stoked me with the original control plate as the guitar came in with a black repro. In case you like the look with the black plate I've included it with the guitar.
