2016 PRS McCarty 594 10-Top Satin Black Gold, Mint, Original Hard, $3,299.00
Offered here is an example of the newest model in the Paul Reed Smith fleet of guitars, the McCarty 594. It started as a Private Stock model that was so popular, PRS adopted it as part of it's core line of instruments.
The 594 is named for it's unique string scale, 24.594", making the scale just under a 10th of an inch longer than the McCarty's typical 24.5" scale. It's still a short scale, 22-fret design, but that tiny bit of added scale length adds a bit more clarity and brightness to the guitar's tone and is just one of the many little details that makes this model special.
Another detail of import to this design are the electronics. The PRS 58/15 LT pickups are a lower wound humbucker with a vintage output that again makes for a cleaner tone. PRS then added coil splitting, along with separate volume and tone controls for each pickup in order to provide nearly unlimited tone adjustment capabilities. Further, they put the three-way toggle in the upper bout of the guitar for purposes of player comfort.
The neck shape is called "Pattern Vintage." It's a chunky neck shape that is slightly asymmetrical with a little more mass on the bass side of the neck versus the treble side.
Finally, PRS gave the 594 their own version of the familiar Tune-O-Matic two-piece bridge and tail piece setup. This design allows for maximum adjustment of string height and intonation.
Play this guitar and you immediately feel comfortable with the design. It feels very LP-like, but with a precision ahnd physical beauty of a high-end PRS guitar. The tone is lovely clean, but has fabulous character and bite when gain is added. You can move between thick humbucking tones and single-coil clarity at will. All the cool details PRS put into this design result in a guitar that is so much more than just the sum of the components. This guitar seems to be able to do it all.
This guitar has been given both a "10-Top" and a unique satin Black Gold finish. The satin finish is designed to make the guitar very cool looking, as well as to resist play wear. Automobile makers are beginning to offer a similar finish as a pricey option on certain luxury models. This beautiful guitar weighs just 8.0 pounds and is perfectly balanced.
This is a brand new instrument that has only seen brief test play by me. I can't offer a warranty as I am not an authorized PRS dealer, but otherwise this is a new guitar. It comes in it's similarly new original hardshell case with all the paperwork and accessories. I believe the regular street price for a 594 with a "10-Top" is $4,200, but this as new example can be yours for $900 less.

Refunds of the original purchase price less shipping and a 10% restocking fee may be requested within 48 hours of delivery.
