Description

I've always found R. Taylor guitars to be something special. Unfortunately, they are not being built right now and perhaps never will be again. Accordingly, I have been keeping an eye out for exceptional examples for our inventory, guitars like this lovely 14-fret Grand Symphony-sized R. Taylor Style 1 made in 2011.

This gorgeous instrument has: a dark, rich, beautiful top made of Sinker Redwood; back and sides made from one of the prettiest sets of Madagascar Rosewood you are likely to see anywhere; modified Adirondack X bracing; lovely green/violet Abalone rosette; Rosewood binding and backstrip; a sleekly-shaped 'RT Standard' shape tropical Mahogany neck with Ebony fretboard; 25.5" scale length; 1.75" bone nut; 2 3/16" string spacing; gold Gotoh 510 tuners; and a venetian cutaway.

Redwood is a tonewood that gives a guitar a warm and complex tone with lots headroom and many players find that it's sound qualities are similar to Cedar. Mated with Madagascar Rosewood, this R. Taylor has a voice that is amazing, particularly for what is a "medium-sized" guitar. The tone is rich and nicely balanced with lots of clarity, while being somewhat warmer to the ear than you would find with a more comman Spruce-topped instrument. The slim, fast neck is extremely easy to navigate. This is one of those instruments that almost seems to play itself. It is beautifully setup with 12th fret string heights of 6/64" on the low E side and 4/64" on the high side.

The original owner of this instrument has many, many guitars and indicated this one had not been played. He wasn't kidding; this guitar is in mint/near mint condition. It could pass for new cosmetically and the frets show zero wear. It comes in it's similarly mint Ameritage premium case along with the original paperwork.

If you could buy this guitar new today, it would surely run you $7K with these tonewood options. For $3K less than that sum you can get this as new and otherwise unattainable R. Taylor guitar. Make this gorgeous acoustic yours!
