Summary: Rebel Relic makes some of the most incredibly accurate and authentic feeling recreations of our favorite 50s and 60s guitars. The care and attention to detail they pour into the distressing is easily the best out there and the fit and finish is unparalleled in the boutique guitar market today. This small Amsterdam based company nailed it with this one, all the looks and tone of a 60s style Strat with a superb setup, nice tall polished frets and a worn in feeling neck and body which resonate beautifully.
Body: Alder body with 3 tone sunburst and highly distressed finish. Topped off with a 3 ply b/w/b pickguard.
Neck: 60s C maple neck with slab rosewood fingerboard, end of heel truss rod adjustment, 21 narrow tall frets, bone nut, clay dots, 25 ½” scale length and 1 5/8” nut width.
Pickups/Hardware: 3 Fender Custom Shop single coil pickups, 1 volume, 2 tones, 5 way switch, distressed pickup covers and hardware, Kluson Deluxe tuners, vintage style bent steel saddles with synchronized trem unit. The middle pickup is RWRP so it is hum-canceling in the in-between positions (2 and 4). I called RebelRelic Guitars and talked to a very friendly and helpful employee who checked his records and informed me that this was the only guitar he knew of that left their shop with Fender Custom Shop pickups, and they sound incredible in this guitar.
Cosmetics: This guitar has tons of excellently executed, authentic distressing to the finish and hardware but is in otherwise perfectly functioning condition with no breaks, cracks or visible repairs.
Playability: Our in house luthier has just inspected, set up and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s and it is playing beautifully with low action and a straight neck. The frets are in great shape with no grooves or divots.
Modifications: The original tortoise shell pickguard has been swapped with a black pickguard.
