If you're around my age and you think back to who was on the radio during your high school years, chances are Mr. Petty would be near the top of that list. He, along with the likes of The Eagles, Aerosmith, Bob Seger, Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd rang in those hazy days of '70s Rock and we listened to many of their songs over and over and over for years. Sadly, Tom is also on the list of artists I never saw live and looking back, I wish I had gone ahead and camped out for those tickets. Regrets box checked...

This 660/12TP is a gorgeous tribute to Tom's life and musical span. It's a complete joy to play and if you're a fan of that world-renowned Rickenbacker jangle, then you'll be pleased from the first chord strummed on this guitar. It's a bright-sounding instrument, with each doubled note clear and articulate. Some guitars you might want to play for a short bit and then put down while others make you want to hold onto them- this 660 falls into that latter category, no doubt about it.

There are some pick swirl marks where the neck joins the body on the bass side. These could possibly be buffed out if so desired, but they are not too obvious or offensive as is. There is a ding in the middle of the back (pictured,) but because it sits in the middle of the birdseye figuring, you will have to turn the guitar into the reflection of an overhead light to see it. There is a bit of discoloration on the pickguard where the mounting screws are and the G string octave tuner stem is slightly bent. Finally, there is a cut on the lower front edge of the case, but it is not spreading or enlarging.

That's picking the guitar's imperfections apart, but again, we are not a fan of surprises when the box hits the house, so there are all of the sins laid bare. Overall, this is a clean, well-taken care-of Ricky Petty that will serve you well for years to come. Or, it may just bring back those great memories of that time you did camp out for those tickets and were rewarded with a kick-ass show from the man himself.

Please take a look at the photos, let us know if you have any questions and as always, we thank you for stopping by!
