2007 Santa Cruz H-13 Black Custom

This is one only two guitars that I thought I would never sell. I looked for years for a small body guitar with huge tone. That's hard enough but I also wanted it to be black. It took me seven years to find it. Then I sold it to a friend. Then I bought it back. The only reason I'm selling it now is that my arthritis has gotten bad enough that I can't play acoustic/fingerstyle any more with subjecting myself to a lot of pain. I can still play electric so I'm still in the game. But what a great guitar. It's the H13 model which is based on the old Gibson Nick Lucas Special.

Here's what Santa Cruz says: SCGC’s concept for the H-13 is to achieve power beyond what would be expected in a small-bodied guitar. Two fundamental lutherie tricks make this possible: a longer string length (more downward pressure at the saddle) and more air space via a deeper body (increased volume and bass response). To place the bridge in the optimal position for power and maintain the longer string length, the neck needs to join the body at the 13th fret. The body is deeper than normal and the depth tapers.

Also, it's one of only three made in this configuration. Black spruce top with mahogany sides and back. Inlay around the soundhole is barbed wire MOP. Fancy fingerboard markers. Ebony board and headstock overlay. All in all, an absolutely gorgeous instrument. And the tone is to die for. It's as loud as a Dread and more articulate. A great fingerstyle player. Condition is near mint. I never gigged this guitar and it rarely left the house in the 9 years since I originally acquired it. It's perhaps the coolest guitar I've ever seen. If it didn't sound so good, I'd hang it on my wall and look at it.
