Summary: These Silvertone guitars are the epitome of ‘60s garage-rock cool. From the 3-pickup set-up to the gorgeous red burst finish and tortoise shell pickguard this guitar just begs to be played! Perhaps that’s why today’s top rock revivalists such as Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys are so drawn to these guitars! This particular example sports a double bound thin hollow-bodied construction with a 3-screw bolt-on neck design.

Body: Hollowbody single cutaway with a beautiful deep red sunburst finish over figured maple and multi ply binding on the top & back.

Neck: 3 bolt maple neck with w/b/w bound rosewood fingerboard, block inlays, bone nut, adjustable truss rod, 1 ¾” nut width and 24” scale length.

Pickups/Hardware: The 3 DeArmond-designed single coil pickups sound fantastic, plenty of vintage grit that makes it a great guitar for rock and/or blues. Each pickup has a volume and a tone knob and an on/off toggle switch. It has an adjustable rosewood bridge with bone saddle, nickel plated tuning keys, trapeze tailpiece and multi ply tortoise pickguard.

Cosmetics: Cosmetically this 1454 is in impressive shape compared to others we have seen. There is some light finish wear and checking and a scratch on the front of the headstock to the right of the Low E tuning machine but otherwise the red burst finish looks fantastic with a nicely highlighted grain pattern. There are 2 spots on top where the imprints from the felt pads from a Bigsby are visible and there are extra holes by the tailpiece from where it was mounted. It has very typical yet minor wear for a guitar of this vintage, chips around the headstock, pick scratches and small dings here or there but overall it is in fabulous shape.

Playability: The guitar has been setup for round wound electric 10s and plays great with comfortable action. The frets still have a good deal of life left and we could not find any spots where the guitar frets out or buzzes significantly.

Modifications: The original Bigsby has been removed in favor of a trapeze-style tail piece, likely for better tuning stability.

Weight: 6 lbs, 4 oz.

Case: This vintage Silvertone comes with an Epiphone hardshell case & we will ship it professionally packed and fully insured!
