Description

Offered is this virtually new and unplayed 2015 Taylor 914CE. This model is at or near the top of Taylor's regular production foodchain and has long been one of their most popular models. But like many of their guitars, the 914CE was re-thought and re-engineered for 2015, resulting in a far superior instrument. A much thinner finish, recalibrated tonewood thicknesses, new diagonal top bracing, an elegant arm bevel and updated ES-2 electronics all contribute to help make what was already a great guitar even better.

The 914CE is a Grand Auditorium-sized, 14-fret instrument with a Venetian cutaway and an integrated Ebony arm bevel. It has a 25.5" scale length, a 1.75" nut width and 2.25" string spacing at the saddle. Taylor uses very high quality straight-grained Sitka Spruce for the top, similarly high-grade East Indian Rosewood for the back and sides and tropical Mahogany for the neck. Ebony, Abalone, Paua and Koa are used in various combinations for the rosette, binding, purfling and the headstock and fingerboard inlays. It has high-quality Gotoh 510 tuners and the aforementioned Taylor ES-2 electronics.

This 914CE plays superbly and quite easily with a factory setup and 9th fret string heights of 4/64" on both sides of the fretboard. Electric guitar players will quickly adapt to the fast, sleek low profile Taylor neck. The nut width and string spacing provide ample room for fingerpickers or flat pickers alike. It is a nicely responsive design and can be loud or intimate depending on your level of attack.

The 914CE has a tone that is full, lush and well balanced. It has a great low end that you can feel, mids that are rich and highs that are clear. Overall tonal "balance" is the best way to describe the rich voice of this guitar.

This guitar is in near pristine condition with no flaws that I have found. It appears unplayed and the frets are flawless. It comes in it's similarly clean brown Taylor hardshell case along with the original paperwork and truss rod adjustment tool.

This model has a suggested retail of $6K and a street price of $5K. Get this virtually spotless 2015 example of Taylor's flagship model for $1,400 less. Very nice indeed!
