2002 (New-old-stock!) Taylor Liberty Tree guitar w/ohsc

In 2002 Taylor made 400 guitars with back and side wood of Tulip Poplar from the last original "Liberty Tree," which stood on the campus of St. John's College in Annapolis MD until being felled by Hurricane Floyd in 1999. The Liberty Trees were gathering places for the Sons of Liberty groups throughout the original 13 colonies. The Annapolis tree was at least 240 years old when it came down. The guitar is a Grand Concert size with back (3 piece) and sides of Tulip Poplar with curl figure and contrast of chocolate brown and vanilla coloring, the top is super tight grained and beautifully quarter sawn Sitka spruce that has ambered to a lovely color over two decades. The top is bordered in abalone pearl. The decorative accents of the guitar celebrate the spirit of the American revolution...the fret board bears a burled maple inlay of a furled Declaration of Independence that extends onto the spruce top. The rosette combines a crescent of 13 stars (for the original colonies) around half of the soundhole opposite an early battle pennant that flew during the Revolution rendered in bloodwood and dyed maple. A depiction of the first post-Revolution American flag is inlaid in dyed maple on the head stock. The guitar plays great and sounds crisp and clear. Though the guitar is 21 years old it is new-old-stock and has never been sold. It is part of the inventory of the now closed Vintage Fret Shop that has been consigned to Kovacik Guitars to be sold. Comes with the VHS cassette that Taylor produced at the time on the Liberty Tree project as well as the Winter 2002 issue of "Wood & Strings" which was Taylor's promotional publication, this being the issue that announced the debut of the Liberty Tree guitar. Ships to US only, no international shipping offered. Thanks for your interest! VFS #10223 $7000
