Description

Offered for your consideration is this fabulous JR 90 Rosewood built by Ron Thorn back in 2007 long before he left for the Fender Custom Shop. Just 8 of these were built between 2006 and 2008 and this is number 3 of this very limited run.

The JR 90 is a short scale (25") set neck guitar with a hardtail bridge made entirely of Rosewood from a small batch of 2" thick Rosewood planks Ron was able to obtain. He sliced off the 1/4" top and fingerboard, routed out the body chambers and a channel for the truss rod and then glued the top and fingerboard back on. The neck is a nice medium C with rolled fretboard edges and depth measurements of .840" -.930". The fingerboard has a 10"-14" compound radius, a 1.670" nut and medium Jescar frets (.095 x .045). The electronics include Ron's terrific P-90 staple top pickups with Tele-style controls with a 4-way switch and top of the line wiring and components.

I've always loved the tone and feel of all-Rosewood guitars, but the weight was often a deal-breaker. Not so with this JR 90; it has a total weight of just 8.0 pounds and is perfectly balanced strapped on. It plays like it was built from a single piece of wood because it was! The tone produced by Ron's staple top pickups is fabulous, as evidenced by the attached 'Soundcloud' sample. As a Thorn-built guitar, the build quality and playability are beyond reproach.

Built in 2007 this very exclisive instrument remains in near mint condition with no flaws of any significance and the frets show no observable wear. Clean this guitar with a little lemon oil as you would a Rosewood fingerboard and it shines like a brand new guitar. It comes in its original G&G blond case which is also in superb condition.

If you are looking for something particularly special in the way of an electric guitar, this fabulous and rare Thorn JR 90 Rosewood certainly qualifies. Click the 'Buy Now' button and make it yours!
