Description

Summary: This gorgeous flame-maple bodied Tokai is a superb example of the skill of Japanese luthiery. A 335-style guitar built for the Japanese market, it can easily hold its own against a Gibson.

Body: Semi-hollow maple multi-ply arched body. Solid center block. Single-bound top and back. Natural finish. F-holes.

Neck: Mahogany. Round tapered profile. Bound rosewood fretboard with dot inlays.

Pickups/Hardware: Two chrome-covered humbuckers. Kluson-style tuners. Adjustable bridge with stop tail piece.

Cosmetics: This guitar is excellent condition. Fit and finish are top knotch and there is very little sign of play wear. The maple body shows beautiful flame under the honey tint of its finish.

Playability: The neck tapers toward the nut, splitting the difference between a 50s and 60s carve; it’s comfortable and easy to play. Frets are great shape with lots of life left. Action is low with no buzz or dead spots. The humbuckers have the vintage semi-hollow tone: rich and woody with good definition.

Weight: 7 lbs, 9 oz.

Case: Original hard shell.
