This Vox AC-10 Twin is the stuff! The low-wattage, EL84 breakup is unmistakably Vox, and it is so, so good! It doesn't matter what you hit this amp with, it just sounds great.
Capture the authentic sound of the British Invasion with this vintage 1965 Vox AC-10 Twin, a rare and highly collectible combo amp from the golden era of Jennings Musical Industries (JMI). Known for its lush chime, warm midrange, and smooth overdrive, the AC-10 Twin delivers that unmistakable Vox tube tone in a more portable, lower-powered package—perfect for studio use or classic low-wattage gigging.
This model features two original 10-inch Celestion speakers, a pair of EL84 power tubes. With its black diamond tolex, gold piping, and iconic Vox grille cloth, the AC-10 Twin has the unmistakable vintage Vox look.
The 1965 AC-10 Twin is especially desirable for its point-to-point hand-wired circuitry, JMI-era build quality, and its relatively limited production numbers. Estimates of total AC10 Twin production is between 1400 and 1500 total units from all JMI years. It’s a perfect choice for collectors, vintage amp connoisseurs, and players looking for that early Vox sweetness with more character and breakup than an AC-30 or AC-15.
The amp is in excellent shape and is very original too. I swapped out the original filter cap can and a couple of electrolytics, leaving the rest of the circuit untouched. There is one change to the "plinthe" - the wooden tray that the chassis is bolted to and slides into the cab with the back off. The original vibrato pedal cable was cut. A hole was drilled into the plinthe, and an RCA connector was soldered to the cable to allow a footswitch to be connected and disconnected, as opposed to the original, hard-wired switch.
A vintage Vox footswitch is included to switch the tremolo on and off.
Other than that, the amp is original, including the speakers. As for the speakers, they are original Elacs, model 10N/85, and the original Pulsonic cones are in place. One speaker surround had a 1/8" crack, so we patched it - see pics.
The identifying features that date this amp to 1965: Single pin corner protectors. Basketweave covering. Black lattice grille. Grey escutcheon (control panel). Big feet. Rotary mains voltage selector. Black metal vents. Original Parmeko transformers. Type 7 serial number plate.
You don't see too many of these, and this is a good one!
We will ship the chassis separately from the cabinet to protect it from damage. This is the only way to ship a vintage Vox. Some easy assembly will be required.
